The National Energy Administration (NEA) announced that the 13th Five-Year Plan for Biomass Energy Development (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") has been issued recently. "Plan" declares that by 2020, biomass energy utilization will be basically expanded and commercialized.

According to the "Plan", annual biomass utilization would reach to about 58 million tons of standard coal by 2020. Total biomass power generation equipment install capacity reaches to 15 million kw, and annual generating capacity realizes 90 billion kwh.

 

According to the “Plan”, China will actively develop biomass pellet fuel for power and heat supply, the use of biomass pellet fuel plans to reach 30 million tons by 2020. Government would promote the biomass pellet power generation and heating, increasing input for large-scale biomass pellet fuel power supply and heating facilities, reducing the pollution emissions.



It is estimated that in 2020, biomass energy can replace the total fossil energy amount of about 58 million tons, reducing sulfur dioxide emissions of about 1.4 million tons, nitrogen oxide emissions of about 440,000 tons, dust emissions of about 52 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions of about 150 million tons per year.
